A new form of the vaccine has sprouted across the world. Coronaviruses are named for the crown-like spikes on their surfaces. Scientists monitor changes in the virus, including changes to the spikes on the surface of the virus. These studies, including genetic analyses of the virus, are helping us understand how changes to the virus might affect how it spreads and what happens to people who are infected with it. In the United Kingdom (UK), a new variant called B.1.1.7 has emerged with an unusually large number of mutations. This variant spreads more easily and quickly than other variants. Currently, there is no evidence that it causes more severe illness or increased risk of death. This variant was first detected in September 2020 and is now highly prevalent in London and southeast England. It has since been detected in numerous countries around the world, including the United States and Canada. We do not yet know how widely these new variants have spread, how the disease caused by these new variants differs from the disease caused by other variants that are currently circulating, or how these variants affect existing therapies and vaccines. But the most important thing is to stay calm. As long as we stay calm, prepared, and smart, we can beat the variant of the virus along with the virus.
The purpose of this website is to inform local people around the Bay Area about prevalent health issues and/or illnesses that could affect each and every one of us here in our own cities. Our goal is to consolidate data, regardless of the number of sources, and end with information that is accurate, appropriate, and actionable. In most cases, we’re looking to produce information that aids in valid, data-driven decision making keeping local citizens in mind and to inform them about the illnesses currently affecting us, so that we are all aware of its affects on our families and also learn how to prevent the spread of the same. The key here is to stay prepared and avoid illness in the first place and to calmly manage and reduce its impact on ourselves, our families and our communities. While it is good to be aware of the trend outside Bay Area too, the goal of this website is to highlight the information you need to know relevant to the Bay Area region, where you may be spending most of your time and interact with the environment and to direct you to legitimate sources of information.
The purpose of this website is to create awareness for all Bay Area citizens broadly, but specifically students, parents and elder citizens of the Bay Area who are keen to know more about current health issues or illnesses and looking for reliable sources of information and those who want to be prepared and help each other in times of need.
We collect information from the most trustworthy sites locally and nationally. For example World Health Organization (WHO), the Center for Disease Control, United States of America also known as CDC, Local County CDC notifications and other reputed medical institutions such as UCSF, John Hopkins and similar sources. This website is a mere consolidator of the information and does not endorse any of these sources. Viewers of this website should do their own further research on the subject either by going into these sources directly or other sources you might consider better.
This site is updated constantly by me, Taneesh Reddy.
My name is Taneesh Reddy. I am a 8th Grade student at Stratford School in Bay Area, CA. My family and I were actively looking for local information relevant to Corona Virus and other seasonal flu and allergy related information. Since we had to look through multiple sources of information before narrowing it down to the specific information applicable to our city or locality, we felt others in the Bay Area would also be actively looking for same or similar information applicable to their city. That is when, I thought why not share my research on a website for other Bay Area residents to view as well.
